Chassidisco Fever

Yes, in case you were wondering, I did actually buy this album when it came out. Or, rather, my parents did. What? It was a pretty good album. It had a hot rendition of Riki Gal doing Shma Yisroel. Kinda Rod Stewart in his disco "If You Think I'm Sexy" days. I still cover that song to this day.

Anyway, since you've been good, and I've checked my list (checked it twice), here ya go:

Your sister - who was my teacher in eighth grade during her first year of teaching - looks exactly the same! You guys do not age! Great photo! I was also wearing white in the summer of '79 - as part of my layette - that's when I was born! :)

That, is an ADORABLE picture!
I love it.

As for the disco album I thought that was a bit of photoshop magic learning that it's real almost made my head explode!

Hillarious.
I love the seventies.

Curly, watch your step - your kids are going to see your bar mitzvah pictures with a head full of face gear. In fact your father may just have to print out your snide remark to show to your children some day. I love those dresses by the way. And I think the white on white on white, with the white shoes is what takes the cake. In fact, you're so white there PT, you could be a cake topper! I love it!

I believe the shoes were rented as well. Patent Leather.

And RM, you're right, she doesn't look different at all. It's uncanny.

Meanwhile, my daughter Iguana is basically a clone of the other sister.

An unbiased viewpoint about the Bar Mitzva: It was terrific. The kid layned well. He also spoke clearly and you could tell that he meant it; it wasn't a recite-by-heart-whatmy-mom-wrote kind of thing. Very genuine. Also, the Rabbi spoke very movingly about Mark and Channe, but much more about Mark's in-laws. In particular, he said that one of the most inspiring things he had ever seen was Grandpa David, who is over 90 (ad me'ah v'esrim shana) and lives in a nursing home. One of the woirst things can be to be in a nursing home if one is still mentally alert and aware, but Grandpa David has made a good thing of it. He has his music, he helps take care of his wife, he has made it a good thing. That ability, to make whatever and wherever into something good is a rare and eviable talent.

It was a real privilege for me and my kids to spend Shabbat with him.

If I may add a comment here about the takana regarding bar mitzva boys not layning, I think it's misguided. I know that the Milwaukee community has lots of families where dads can't teach their sons to layn. But it had people who can teach. I also know that not every boy is cut out to be a ba'al koreh. But with the 'yeshivaish' yeshivos teaching Gemara almost to the exclusion of Mikra, the only bochurim who really know Chumash are the ones who layn regularly. (How many teenagers do you know who do read the parsha twice in the Chumash and once in Targum every week? Right. I can count them on one hand also.)

Oh, that pic is a classic! The little one is totally adorable, and Iguana really does look like her.

A world with 2 Iguanas is a scary one.

Consider you have another patient in the orthopedic ward. I just fell of my chair.
That is sooo funny.

Thank you PT you just made my Day!

BTW: I just saw the thinly veiled threat towards outofAmmo, any chance we might see a similar photo PT?

Awesome pic, PT!!! John Travolta ain't got nothin' on you! ;-) I bet all the 7th grade girls were just crazy about you! Very brave of you to post a pic of your younger years (not that you're old now, of course...uhh..yeah) ;-) Glad to hear that Curly did a great job, too!

Hey PT, that almost sorta looks like you on the cover of Chassidisco - are you sure this wasn't Photoshopped? :)

PT - You look very handsome. Have you ever considered getting rid of the beard?

Sweettooth120 said...

Oh my - I just realized that came out very wrong. I am not implying that you aren't handsome with your beard, it's very becoming on you,....oh nevermind, I will just chew on my big toe for a while.
