Sheitels--For Men!

And now! The latest product from Boro Park what every frumme yid will need!

Conspicuous in your Cap? Self-conscious about your Shtreimel? Bashful in your Black Hat?

Being an Orthodox Jew used to mean covering your hair with a Yarmulke or Cap or Fedora, but that made you stand out in a crowd! In the old days, when you didn't want anyone to know that you were frum, you had to take off your Yarmulke and go bareheaded! Or wear a hat to work, but let's face it, Gentlemen, the only people who wear hats are frummies! You might as well show up in a Turban for all the anonymity that would give you!

BUT NO MORE!

Now you can be Modest AND Modern! Stylish AND Tznius!

Introducing, the world's first Sheitel made exclusively for MEN!

The MEITEL!

The "Shaitner"

The "Koisel"

Don't let your wife tell you you don't need one! You deserve it!

Remember, Frum doesn't have to mean Frumpy!

Update: I may have competition

Back in the 1950's, I believe there was some discussion in Halachic publications about the use of a toupee as a kipa. I'll see if I can dig it up out of the archives in my M-i-l's house. (F-i-l, olav hashalom, would have known who wrote the article and where is was published.)

Almost relevant, a guy in our shul showed up last week in a black baseball cap. Embroidered in gold on the front:
"I wish I could afford a Borsalino like my son-in-law in Kollel"

That's just wrong PT (but oh so funny.)

Trump's not wearing a Meitel. That's a toupee.

So THAT'S why wigs count as a head covering! Then why is it okay for women but not men?

Where will all the styrofoam heads sit?

File this one under the funny but true category.

I know for a fact of someone who employs this idea as an everyday practice.

Excellent post!

Did you know that at YU the boys in the school plays who still want to cover their heads but whose "character" needs to be bare headed often wear some small hair piece that matches their hair color?

Well, now you know.

I'm with Kiwi on this one--sheitlach for men, however funny, are inevitable. There will always be those who find it personally and/or professionally challenging to be blatantly Jewish in public.

I once heard that the guy who played the original DA on the original Law & Order (Stephen Hill?) was frum and wore a rug on set for that very reason...

Ironically, Shira, I'd be more inclined to think it's not okay for women, than it's okay for men. But I'm not even Jewish, so I have no idea how all that works.

Stephen Hill is, I believe, a Sqvarer Chossid.

He was also on the first season of Mission Impossible!

Y'all know I'm being tongue-in-cheek with this, right? I'm not actually going to bring this product to market.

Besides, most women actually look BETTER with sheitels than their own hair. The same can most definitely NOT be said for men.

Any other Meitel Model ideas? I got the "Shaitner" and the "Koisel".

If you have other models in mind, put a comment and link to a photo.
