And So It Begins...

The Nine Days have started. No meat. More yummy fish. Last night:

PT: What are you making?

Mrs B: Salmon.

PT: Mmmm...are you gonna fry it?

Mrs B: I thought I'd put some spices on and cook it in the microwave.

PT: How 'bout frying it?

Mrs B: Nah, it'll make the house smoky and stinky.

PT: Yeah, but how 'bout frying it?

Mrs B: I could bake it if you want.

PT: How 'bout frying it?

Just like LO...she thinks if she just keeps saying what SHE wants - she gets it! So...how was the fried fish?

The fish was delish--and it made quite a dish.

the wives just dont get it, no matter how clear we make the request (for specific foods..)!!

Mrs. R baked a halibut last night. Outstanding.

My mom fries up a mean trout almondine. But it does stink up the joint.

Someone has selective hearing...

Now, see, if you were a vegetarian, you wouldn't have these problems. You could fry up the soy "fish" fingers and everybody's happy. Sort of.

I made salmon patties for last night. Yes, frying them smelled up the house...and the smell lingered on my clothes, too. Not too nice when you go out in public and you smell like tonight's dinner.

Tonight's lasagne...

Totally off topic: Hey What Maternal Instinct (formerly known as Inland Empress)! Long time no see! How are you? If you still have my email, catch me up on your life. Or email me through psychotodller.

You can tune a piano, but you can't...

Ooh - I am going to make salmon paties for supper tonight!

How did you fry the salmon? In olive oil? With bread crumbs?

torontopearl said...

AMM: Unfortunately not olive oil, but a bit of oil. Flavored bread crumbs. And I grated potatotes in it.
After frying, you bake them too.
It's like a salmon patty latke!

I'm game for anything fried. I'd even eat fried dirt. Of course, last night we had Ziti and tonight Frosted Flakes!!!

Rafi G: It doesn't seem to work for consumer electronics, either.

Ralphie: Ooo, did yew have a license for that 'alibut??

essie: Eh?

Anne: I don't think you can put the words "soy fingers" and "happy" in the same sentence.

TP: Salmon patties are great. Mrs. B makes Tuna patties too. I once knew a girl who always smelled like chicken soup.

DB: Please. Stop trying to pick up women on my site. What are you, Dating Master? Anyway, Anne's moving to my neck of the woods.

AMM: There's actually a kosher cooking carnival here. I've thought about submitting recipes but I don't think they need one for cheerios with banana.

trn, thanks, but when I want to wish a wish, I'll swish for fish with my Ish wish dish.

Neil: Mmmm...fried frosted flakes...

One side effect
Of frying fish?
A grease fire!
Must extinguish!

Why would I come here if I wasn't picking up women?

First of all:

For the salmon filets:

Fried: A little butter in the pan, salmon, and I like this McCormick's Montreal Chicken seasoning (works fine for fish too), cover (cuts down on the smell), Very Good.

Microwave: Lemon juice in the bottom of the dish, salmon, and same seasoning, cover, also very good. In fact, the PT has had it this way quite a few times.

By the way---guess who's making supper tonight? And it's not gonna be Frosted Flakes!

Very cute, how does she know about frying already lol.

I made the BEST salmon the other night. Everyone gobbled it up and then went home and made it for themselves the next night, and it wasn't fried! let me know if you want the recipe

PsychoToddler said...

Rebecca: Yes, please post it here.

I made some pretty good teriyaki stir fried salmon once. Lots of smoke.
