The Siyum

Ahhh, yes....Honey Cake and Clan MacGregor...now that's how you make a siyum.

And NOW....

Watch and hear me mumble my way through the actual siyum! (Note: this may be a large file).

Notice how much I move my hands around when I speak. Gotta work on that. Also notice how the other guy loses me about halfway through and there is almost no way for me to catch up. Enjoy!

This siyum was dedicated to the recovery of Leah bas Yehudis and Eliezer ben Perel.

DovBear: Did you miss it? One of us had the Ashkenaz text and the other had the Sfard text.

HNC: It wasn't me. I hate honey cake.

Yasher Koach!
Didn't catch the different nusachs, the picture is too blurry.
I did notice that there was only one bottle of liquor in the picture. Come on! Where I come from, there would be, on a normal morning/shabbat morning, at least two or three (BAYT) four or five (Clanton Park) or seven or eight (LUZERNE!!) different bottles. What are you Midwesterners, sober or something?

The mechitzah is so transparent in this minyan; glad I could see over to the men's side and follow what was happening.

Mazel Tov..."Skoyach"!

I really enjoyed this. I have never heard your speaking voice, only your singing voice.

Best wishes for both of their recoveries.

Mark,

Yasher Koach from the Zalben Clan...the spouse is jealous that you are studying and he isn't.

My 5 year old asked me "why is everyone wearing black except for that man? and why isn't he wearing a black hat?"

I let you think about that....

Maybe it's time for a..

PSYCHOTODDLER FLASHBACK!!

Seriously, didn't we talk about this in 2004?

BTW, did she remember meeting me in Loch Sheldrake?

Stacey: I'm not crazy about my speaking voice.

Tzippy: Canadians! Maybe the learning would go smoother if we were all sloshed up!

I can't believe this but you sound like my own doctor here in Washington state. Only he doesn't move his hands so much.

And thanks for sharing the Simcha.

We started up Baba Metzia. After that we move to Baba Basra, Baba Dilbert, Baba Maaseh and finally Baba O'Reilly.

And here I am trying to figure out whether it's "kosher" to say "amen" and Y'hei sh'mei" to a Kaddish when I'm not actually present at the minyan. (Ah, computer monitors--just love that glass "mechitzah." :)

"Notice how much I move my hands around when I speak." Nu, you're a musician. The day you *stop* moving your hands is the day you should worry! :)

Yasher koach, and many more!

Yeah, I'm sure we did, but I can't remember when, and I was tearing my hair out early this evening trying to find that post so I could quote from it on my blog. Where'd you hide it?
