Psychotoddler

Every so often I get a question, usually as a comment, and not always on my own blog, to the effect of, "Don't you think your daughter will resent you/hate you/torment you/have serious psychiatric problems/etc. when she finds out about your blog?"

Having spent as much time with her as I do, and having to jump constantly through the hoops she sets up for me from the moment she wakes up until the moment she goes to sleep, I can say with no remorse whatsoever that she deserves the title without any hesitation. And anyway, she's seen it.

She's awwwwwwwwwwwwfully cute though, which goes well with psychosis.

My mom used to try to get us to stop calling each other "psycho" because it "wasn't nice."

We're grown and still do it. I think she'll deal.

Where I live, being called "psycho" is a compliment! ; )

Oh, I don't allow my kids to call each other names. Only I'm allowed to do that.

But when I met you & the family in June, and said loudly "Oh, THAT'S the PsychoToddler," you said "Shh, she doesn't realize that's her." But of course, you do!

(noticed in the pic she's already a PsychoPiercedToddler... How was she with getting her ears pierced...or does that deserve a post in itself?)

Also this post perfectly crystallizes the consequences of your cockamamie naming convention. You have a post named "Psychotoddler" on a blog named "Psychotoddler" about a child named "Psychotoddler" and at the bottom of the post we are informed that it was posted by "Psychotoddler", the child's father. It's a hopeless mishmash! I'm not saying that she'll need a decade of psychoanalysis to work through all the issues involved in the conflation of her and her dad into one entity, but I am saying that she's cute.

But what are you going to do in a few years, change the name of the blog to Psycho Teenager?

PsychoToddler said...

Psycho teenager is redundant.

my mother always said she wanted to name me"Ingrate"

It would be interesting if we could go back and rename our kids a few years later, after we get to know them.

I know that I asked this recently. Thanks for addressing it.

I was called "Sarah Heartburn" as a kid. I think name-calling kids in front of them, their peers, other relatives and random strangers is demeaning and scarring. On a blog, however, anything goes.

Sarah Heartburn!

I don't actually call her psychotoddler at all.

If you must know, I call her 'Bubbie' or sometimes 'Bublet' or even 'Bubwet' or 'The Bubwet'.

I do not hesitate to call her a Meshuganeh, which is tantamount to psychotoddler but is considered a term of endearment.

Much like my mother called my sister a 'Meeskeit' and me a 'Paskutzvoh'.

I think it has something to do with the evil eye.

Sarah Heartburn!

Pearl: I think when we got her ears pierced she was too small to talk. Much. Don't remember, as Mrs. B. took care of it.

I do remember her older sister, D2, was quite unhappy when she got her ears pierced and kept calling the girl a "stupidhead."
