Kosher Music

This is the reason I went into the Jewish Rock business. Sounds a little like my daughter, but my daughter would never "open up a mouth" to me.

It's hard to get someone who likes heavy metal to like Jewish music, no matter how "upright" the performer. But Jewish music doesn't have to be lame.

Via Blog in DM.

Heavy metal is actually full of Jews, from guitarist Scott Ian of Anthrax, to Marty Friedman, guitarist for Megadeth, the list goes on David Lee Roth, Slash, etc.

In junior high school and high school I was a HUGE Anthrax fan - now I am a fan of Yosef Karduner.

I guess I am one of the few...

I too, enjoy Jewish Music, but it took me a while to get to this point. If someone would have said to me when I was a teenager, "Stop listening to your Zepplin and Squeeze and Elvis Costello. This Frummy stuff is better," I would have laughed at them.

I was slowly able to appreciate Jewish music by being introduced to the Diaspora Yeshiva Band (the "live" album) and some other hard-playing acts. But anything by Yisroel Lamm was completely uninteresting to me.

I can sort of listen to that stuff now, but not because I like it. I don't know Karduner. Maybe I'd like his stuff. My test has always been whether I would like the song if the lyrics were Japanese. If not, then it's probably not something I would voluntarily listen to just because it's "Jewish."

If you haven't heard Karduner before, I strongly recommend this CD:

I do not work for this store, nor do have any economic interest in you buying it there.

P.S. Sorry for the double post comments before.
